Traditional materials and building techniques in Boka Kotorska

techniquesHeadley Trust Foundation in May 2014 approved a grant to Expeditio project named "Traditional materials and building techniques in the Boka Kotorska". Given the lack of appropriate examples of restoration of traditional wooden windows and application of lime mortar on traditional buildings, and the lack of information in our language concerning these issues, there is a need for professional literature on traditional techniques, crafts and materials. EXPEDITIO conceived this project in order to continue improving the knowledge and skills of traditional materials and the use of building techniques, focusing on wooden windows and lime mortar.

Vrata 2 izdanjeThe second edition of the publication “The doors in the traditional architecture of the Boka Kotorska and their conservation” has been released. The publication is the result of cooperation between EXPEDITIO and the Svenska byggnadsvårdsföreningen – the Swedish Association for Building Preservation following the restoration volunteer camps carried out in Perast.

This project, implemented by EXPEDITIO in the period 2014-2016 and funded by the Headley Trust from the UK, was aimed at increasing the knowledge and awareness of the use of traditional materials and construction techniques in the restoration of buildings in accordance with contemporary challenges.

Gjirokastra rStudy visit to Gjirokastra (Albania) and 27th Regional Camp of Restoration Cultural Heritage without Borders (CHwB)was organized in the period from 22 to 25 May 2016. The study visit was organized within the project Traditional Materials and Building Techniques in Boka Kotorskafinanced by the Headley Trust from Great Britain.
