Aim of the project |
EXPEDITIO organized the third volunteer restoration camp on Viskovic Palace in Perast, in co-operation with the partner organization Svenska Byggnadsvardsföreningen from Stockholm (the Swedish Association for Building Preservation). The aims of the volunteer restoration work camp were: - Concrete conservation -restoration activities aimed at preserving and enhancing the values of Perast - Promoting the use of traditional building and conservation techniques, through concrete activities in the camp, where volunteers and local craftsman had an opportunity to become acquainted with and receive training in using those techniques - Engaging local community, craftsmen and all interested people who had an opportunity to observe the activities and become acquainted with the methods of conservation - Promoting the use of traditional building and conservation techniques, through publishing a brochure about restoration of wooden doors. |
Activities | The restoration camp on Viskovic Palace in Perast focused on the conservation and restoration of wooden doors. During the camp, a main entrance door on the Viskovic palace and two doors on the neighboring house of the Balaban family were restored. Instructed by experts for woodwork, i.e. two carpenters from Sweden, the volunteers had a chance to become acquainted with the whole process of timber restoration and to do the work in practice. |
