The aim of the project "Managing Space - Promoting EU standards" was to increase the awareness of citizens of Serbia and Montenegro on European standards in the field of space - urban planning, architecture, sustainable development and cultural heritage, as well as to determine the directions of action in these areas so that could be made a step up of Serbia and Montenegro towards European integration. Study Visit to Slovenia

From August 26 to September 3, six representatives of our organization were on a study visit to Slovenia. The visit is a part of the project "Managing Space – Promoting European Standards", funded by the European Agency for Reconstruction from Belgrade, through the European Movement in Serbia office.

The visit was aimed at learning about the experiences of Slovenian state and civil sectors in the field of space treating and management. We visited the Ministry of Culture, the Institute for Urbanism of Slovenia, the Municipality of Ljubljana, the Republic institute for cultural heritage, Oikos, NGO "Vitra" form Cerknica, Metelkova...

KEY EUROPEAN DOCUMENTS TRANSLATED AND PUBLISHED

Within the project “Managing Space – Promoting European Standards” we have translated and published key European documents (strategies, charters, conventions, recommendations, declarations) concerning spatial planning, architecture, sustainable architecture and cultural heritage that have not been published in our country so far, and which represent important reference documents for both professionals in the mentioned fields and the broadest public.

A film produced within the campaign entitled “Managing Space – Promoting European Standards” represents a summary of the most relevant European documents used by the European Union over the last years in regulating the main guidelines of spatial development.

LECTURES: NATURE AND ELEMENTARY LANGUAGE OF SPACE

In the period from 29 November to 1 December 2005, within the project “Managing the Space – Promoting European Standards”, a serial of lectures titled “Nature and Elementary Language of Space” was delivered by Slovenian architect Ira Zorko from Ljubljana, in Belgrade, Podgorica and Kotor.

- In Belgrade, the lecture was held on 29 November 2005, in the amphitheater of the Faculty of architecture. The lecture was attended by about 200 people, mainly students of architecture and architects. The lecture was opened by docent Dr Ljiljana Blagojević and docent M.A. Ksenija Lalović, from the Department for Urbanism and Spatial Planning, as well as a member of our partner organization PaPs (Public Art and Public Space) from Belgrade.

Description: The aim of the project “Managing the space – promoting European standards” is to increase the awareness of the Serbia and Montenegro citizens about the European standards in the area of managing the space - urban planning, architecture, sustainable development and cultural heritage as well as to define directions of action in those areas, that would move Serbia and Montenegro toward European integrations.
