Integration of gender equality into plans and programs at all levels is a legal obligation that is not implemented sufficiently in Montenegro. The intention of the project "Gender and Space" was to encourage the process of introducing gender perspektve in the spatial development planning in Montenegro. The project aims to increase awareness of gender equality principles in actors who are involved in the spatial planning in Montenegro.
At the 20th International Urban Planners Exhibition held from 8 to 15 November 2011 in Niš (Serbia), Expeditio got a recognition for the project Gender and Space within the category Urban Studies and Researches.
On Sunday, May 1, 2011 in Gjirokastra (Albania) the representative of Expeditio, Tatjana Rajić, held a lecture on "Gender aspect in considering tradition and space planning". The lecture, followed by active discussion, was held before the students from the countries of the region who participate in voluntary work camp organized by Swedish association "Cultural Heritage Without Borders". The lecture was based on the experience from the project Rod i prostor realized recently by our organization.

On Tuesday, 14 December 2010, in Hotel “Maestral” in Miločer, EXPEDITIO organized a workshop entitled “Gender and Space – Integration of Gender Equality Principles into Spatial Planning in Montenegro”.
As one of the activities of the project "Gender and Space - Gender Mainstreaming of Spatial Planning Processes in Montenegro" we have begun conducting interviews with women dealing with spatial planning in Montenegro, either those working on developing and implementing plans or those engaged in decision making at the local and national levels. The aim of this activity is to assess the situation in Montenegro when it comes to understanding the concept of gender equality within the context of spatial planning.
