The Final Conference of the project Revival of City Squares in Balkan Cities "Vibrant Squares was held on 12 October 2012 as one of the key events of the Tirana Architecture Week.
The project Revival of City Squares in Balkan Cities was implemented during 2011-2012 The project aimed to contribute to the revival of city squares as viable public places that foster cultural identity and promote diversity through enforcement of public policies and active community participation. The project lead partner was organization Co-PLAN, Institute for Habitat Development from Tirana, Albania; while the project partners were: Coalition for Sustainable Development KOR from Skopje, Macedonia; EXPEDITIO from Kotor, Montenegro and Polis University (International School of Architecture and Urban Development Policies) from Tirana, Albania.

Within the conference on city squares held in Tirana on 12 October 2012, the exhibition entitled “The Pythagoras’ (un)costant“ was mounted. The exhibition was put up by Stefano Romano, project coordinator from the Polis University in Tirana.

A round table entitled „City Squares and Open Public Spaces of Kotor“ was organized on Wednesday, the 4th July 2012 at 13.00 h in the Old Town of Kotor. It was held at the Gothic Hall of the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Heritage – Regional Unit Kotor.
The aim of the round table was to discuss the key issues, problems and possible solutions referring to the planning, use and management of squares and other open public spaces in Kotor, especially in the Old Town. It gathered all relevant stakeholders who have a direct influence of the planning, use and management of these spaces.
The workshop “Placemaking”, intended for representatives of local governments, citizens and students from Skopje, was organised by the Coalition for Sustainable Development on 29 June, 2012.
The second round table in Tirana - “Discuss Your Open Space” was organised in the frame of the project Revival of City Squares in Balkan Cities, on 29 June 2012, at the Square in front of the former “Ekspozita Shqiperia Sot”.
Coalition for Sustainable Development from Macedonia organised round table discussion with representatives from the local governments in Skopje - “Current Practices and Challenges”, on 8th June, 2012.
Partners of the project Revival of City Squares in Balkan Cities: Co-PLAN and U-Polis from Albania, Coalition for Sustainable Development form Macedonia and EXPEDITIO from Montenegro, took part in the SCP Participatory Review Workshop, held on 24-25 May 2012 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
