Expeditio representative attended the international building exhibition - SAIE, dedicated to innovative materials and technologies in the field of sustainable construction and energy efficiency, which took place from 27 to 30 October 2010 in Bologna, Italay. This visit was part of the project Benefit Living.
SAIE brings together various players in order to offer integrated solutions for a changing sector, assuring greater attention to the environment as well as greater energy efficiency, safety and provision of services.
SAIE 2010 offered visitors the chance to see many innovative products and technologies, the most interesting among which are the new façade walls and roofing with integrated solar panels, the latest systems of double-skin walls with a high level of insulation, creative forms of green façades and roofs, as well as new uses of old building materials such as wood and bricks.
Out of 170,000 visitors, 90% are architects, designers and representatives of construction companies seeking to improve their skills and knowledge in the field of energy conservation, using renewable energy sources and new eco-friendly materials. “The hunger for energy” in the construction industry is growing, rosing by 3.5% from 2008 to 2009. However, there are some positive results concerning the use of renewable energy sources, which, according to Eurostat report, rose from 8.9% in 2008 to 10.7% in 2009.
In order to create a direct link between the exhibit space and specialised information on exhibited products, SAIE 2010 introduced Plazas as spaces where companies, associations and the leading industry professionals could meet for training opportunities in the fields of technology, products and systems for construction and architecture. Especiallz interesting was the Plaza of Energy dedicated to the topic of energy efficiency in building, which presented an exhibition of selected and awarded designs by young architects from all over the world who apply the principles of sustainable construction in their work.
