2 2On 8 June 2017, the workshop entitled “Mapping and use of public spaces in Herceg Novi as preconditions for inter-sectoral cooperation” was held in the Youth Centre in Herceg Novi. The workshop, organized by the NGO Youth Cultural Centre Herceg Novi, is one of the activities of the project Novi gradski HUB / The New City HUB implemented by the Youth Cultural Centre.

One of the aims of the project is to contribute to better utilization of town resources through reviving public spaces and to improve inter-sectoral cooperation and dialogue.

Some of the issues discussed during the workshop:
How to obtain permits for non-profit events? What are the criteria and process to obtain the permits? What public spaces can we use? Are the fortresses in our town available to all the organizations for organizing events of importance for all of us? What are the buildings and spaces owned by the Municipality that we can use and when can we use them? Who should we address if we think the rules and the law are not respected?

Presentations were held by:

  • Tatjana Rajić, NGO Expeditio from Kotor; presenting positive examples of public-civil-private partnerships in Boka Kotorska
  • Goran Đurović, the Coalition of NGOs “Through Cooperation to the Aim”; presenting an Initiative for adopting regulations on the criteria and procedure for allocation of state-owned spaces and property to be used by NGOs
  • Nikša Grgurević, director of the Agency for Construction and Development of Herceg Novi, presenting possibilities for cooperation between the Agency and the civil sector
