We invite you to a free screening of the documentary film “Man on Wire”, Boka Cinema, 11 September 2016 at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, 11 September 2016 at 8 p.m., “Man on Wire”, a 2008 biographical documentary film directed by James Marsh, will be shown in Boka Cinema in Kotor. The screening of the film is part of the event entitled “Emotional Geographies – Kotor 2016” organized by the international platform URBAN HUM.

A look at tightrope walker Philippe Petit's daring, but illegal, high-wire routine performed between New York City's World Trade Center's twin towers on August 7, 1974, what some consider, “the artistic crime of the century”.

The film won several awards: the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 81st Academy Awards, USA, 2009;   the Special Jury Award and Audience Award at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival; the International Audience Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Standard Life Audience Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival; the Jury Prize and Audience Award in the World Cinema: Documentary competition at the Sundance Film Festival, 2008; the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film, 2009; the Best Documentary Film in the Canadian Film Critics Association Awards, 2008, etc.

Screening of the film accompanies the meeting “Emotional Geographies” which will be held in Kotor, on 10-11 September 2016. “Emotional Geographies” are part of the international platform URBAN HUM which was established with the goal of critical thinking, presentation, preservation and interpretation of urban and public spaces, as well as contemplating new forms of urban co-existence in the Balkans and Eastern European countries.
