ACT4CITY Independent cultural actors towards sustainable Balkan cities
Given that urban environment is a space for everyday life for the majority of people, there is a growing need to empower independent cultural actors to focus more on urban sustainability approach.
Main goal of the project ACT4CITY is to strengthen regional cooperation of independent cultural actors in Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia and Croatia through joint educational, artistic and advocacy actions, promoting the use of creative tools in shaping Balkan cities that are more sustainable.
Planned activities:
1. Conducting a joint research on the role of creative sector in co-designing sustainable Balkan cities, through organizing focus groups in each partner’s country;
2. Initiate discussions/round tables for stakeholders on trans-disciplinary engagement of independent cultural actors in the issues regarding the Balkan cities sustainability;
3. Developing pilot activities in Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia and Croatia aiming to link artistic/creative interventions and sustainable cities concept;
4. Organizing a regional workshop for independent cultural actors from partner countries who wish to be actively engaged in co-designing of Balkan sustainable cities
5. Providing joint PR and visibility tools (web, documentary, e-newsletter…);
6. Creating and disseminating joint political recommendations for improving the creative sector’s participation in co-designing sustainable Balkan cities;

Expected results:
- Improved cooperation
- Increased level
- Reinforced independent cultural players’ role in co-designing cities, through minimum 8 creative activities involving 200 citizens and promoting the overall principles of urban sustainability;
- Raised awareness among political stakeholders in 4 partner countries of the relevance of creative sectors’ participation in city making processes;
