EXPEDITIO Centre for Sustainable Spatial Development organized a lecture on permaculture on 22 June 2012 at 7 p. m. The lecture was held at the House of Free Thought at Kavač, Boka Kotorska.
The lecture on permaculture was organized as an introductory activity of a two-day course in permaculture. The course gathering about 20 participants from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and Serbia was held on 23 and 24 June 2012 also at the House of Free Thought. While the course offered the participants with the opportunity to learn how to apply the basic principles of permaculture, the introductory lecture presented basic information on permaculture, its main principles, as well as concrete experiences in permaculture from Slovenia.
The introductory lecture was held by Tomislav Gjerkeš and Ira Zorko from Slovenije who also led the course. Tomislav Gjerkeš is a permaculture designer who tries to live by permaculture. He owns a company and his focus is on ecosystems interwoven in infrastructure, economic and social networks. Ira Zorko is an architect. Inspired by nature and culture of all times and traditions, he understands and tries to apply architecture, parmaculture and art as a living language, complementary to the spoken ones.
The course in permaculture brings together the activities planned within two projects currently implemented by EXPEDITIO: Valorization of the Vernacular Heritage in Montenegro (donor: Headley Trust fondacija) Promoting the Principles of Sustainable Development in Public Spaces of Boka Kotorska (donor: Rockefeller Brothers Fund).
