A survey oriented to European cultural organizations is being conducted within the Sostenuto project. This survey is developed by the Cultural Economics Research Unit, University of Valencia, Spain, as one of the partners in the SOSTENUTO project.
We consider a cultural iniciative to be all those events which via the manipulation of simbolic material, be it of an aescetic, cognitive or spiritual nature, elevate the individual while also generating some kind of economic or social development. Cultural initiatives can be led by cultural organizations or institutions as well as public sector institutions, individuals, private sector organizations, non-profit organizations; as well groups and organizations not formally recognized which form spontaneously for specific functions or events.
The objective of the SOSTENUTO is to investigate, from the perspective of theory and practice, the role of cultural initiatives as catalysts for economic and social innovation. For this reason, the project focuses on the area between the organisation and its need to plan and carry out colective action, the search for new concepts and practices and the experimentation with new processes.
