Within the project CSEinHeritage - Civil Society Engagement in community building through the understanding, development, management and preservation of the built cultural heritage of the Western Balkans, two trainings will be organized again this year by the Built Heritage Conservation Training Centre at Bánffy Castle, Bontida, Rumania.
The Built Heritage Conservation Training Centre (BHCT) at Bánffy Castle, Bontida, was established by the Transylvania Trust Foundation (Romania) and the Institute of Historic Building Conservation – IHBC (United Kingdom). The main objective of the Centre is to re-introduce traditional building craft skills, and encourage the use of locally sourced materials. The training project is designed for students and craftsmen of different levels and experience.
The courses provided through the centre are available to specialist in this field, architects, structural engineers, art historians, etc., and craftsmen, as well as to undergraduate students in architecture, structural engineering and conservation, to undertake their vocational training through the BHCT Centre. The courses are offered in two parts; a formal teaching element and practical workshops teaching conservation skills directly on the buildings of the castle. The formal teaching element of the course will be delivered by qualified lecturers from the United Kingdom and Romania. Simultaneous translation is provided in Romanian, Hungarian and English. The practical workshops mainly will be led by specialists from the United Kingdom and Romania, while the decorative painting/Introduction to fresco technique course will be jointly presented by a guest specialist from École d’Avignon, France and the craftsmen from the BHCT Centre. At the end of the teaching modules participants will receive a certificate of participation.
The dates for this year's teaching modules of the BHCT Centre are:
- Modul I – 23 June – 7 July 2012 (Carpentry and Rendering)
- Modul IV – 4-18 August 2012 (Carpentry, Rendering, Stonemasonry and Decorative Painting/Painting with Lime/Introduction to Fresco Technique)
EXPEDITIO can send six participants interested to take part in these two trainings. All travel expenses and accommodation costs in Romania will be covered for the selected participants.
All interested specialists/students from the region of South East Europe, active in the above-mentioned fields can apply to participate in the trainings, while the priority will be given to participants from Montenegro.

The trainings will be organized by the Transylvania Trust (Romania) within the project CSEinHeritage. The partner organizations in this project are Europa Nostra (the Netherlands), EXPEDITIO (Montenegro), Cultural Heritage without Borders - CHwB (Sweden), Emancipimi Civil Ma Ndryshe (Kosovo) and Evropa Nostra Srbija (Serbia).
