Expeditio representative participated in the Tunis Exchange Forum – Building Plural and Democratic Societies, which took place in Tunisia, on 23-26 June 2011. ·The Exchange Forum was organized by the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF), Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures, in partnership with the Foundation for the Future and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sweden and, in close collaboration with the Tunisian Network and the Club Unesco Bardo.
The Exchange Forum was organized in the framework of the regional initiative „Believe in Dialogue, Act for Citizenship‟, the response of the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) and its Network of National Civil Society Networks to the historic events that the Mediterranean region has experienced since December 2010.
The Exchange Forum was conceived as an important human and social gathering for the promotion of exchange and debate on issues of citizenship and intercultural dialogue in the context of democratic transition. In this regard, the event gathered more than 200 civil society representatives from across the Arab region and different parts of Europe, including cultural and media operators, NGO managers, social and human rights activists, and youth leaders. Specific objectives of the gathering focused on:
- ·Fostering debate and facilitating exchange, contact in the field of citizenship, democracy, human rights
- Offering tools and resources for the empowerment of civil society with respect to the relationship between dialogue and the above mentioned fields
- Encouraging sustained interaction and mutual support between citizens from all participating countries and contributing to spreading awareness about intercultural citizenship
Through the Tunis Exchange Forum, participants had the opportunity to share proposals for action, discover innovative practice of Euro-Mediterranean institutions, networks and associations, and formulate recommendations for enhancing cooperation between societies in the South and North of the Mediterranean.
During the Exchange Forum EXPEDITIO representative presented an example of good practice of participatory development of local programmes for the development of culture of the Municipalities in Boka Kotorska.
