From 29 to 31 May 2007 a Regional seminar/workshop “Development of Maintenance Programs and Tools for Historic Building Maintenance” was held in the Trade Union Centre Muo, near Kotor and Gornja Lastva, near Tivat. The seminar was organized by the regional partners:
- National Trust of England, Wales and Northern Ireland
- Europa Nostra
- EXPEDITIO
- Swedish foundation Cultural Heritage without Borders (CHwB)

Maintaining building heritage is very important when it comes to long-term protection of buildings. Developing programs and plans for cultural monuments maintenance is a step closer to providing long-term maintenance of buildings and also a tool that can be of great assistance to owners and users of these buildings. By organizing this seminar/workshop we wanted to open a discussion on the importance of development of Maintenance programs and plans in the Southeastern Europe. Furthermore, the seminar discussed the use of traditional crafts and materials in the region, as well as the importance of preserving heritage through maintaining and safeguarding traditional skills of old craftsmen. The results of the discussion will be used as basis for “South East Europe skills project” which will focus on creating an educational scheme for craftsmen when it comes to preserving traditional skills and techniques.

The regional seminar/workshop was attended by 40 participants, representatives of state institutions (primarily Institutes for the protection of cultural monuments) and NGOs active in the field of cultural heritage, from 10 countries from the region: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.

The seminar was also attended by guests and lecturers from Great Britain, Sweden and Slovakia.

Out local partner from Gornja Lastva is NGO “NAPREDAK” Gornja Lastva.
